Maintenance
Most electrical failures give warning first. Planned maintenance finds the loose connection, the failing breaker and the dead emergency light before they become a call at 2 a.m.
Electrical systems do not wear out like a furnace, but they do degrade: connections loosen with heat cycles, breakers age, protective devices stop tripping, and batteries in emergency lighting quietly die. A maintenance visit checks the parts that fail silently, and fixes small problems while they are still small.
Breakers, terminations and the main checked for heat, corrosion and looseness, and the directory corrected so it matches reality.
GFCI and AFCI devices tested, because a protective device that no longer trips gives no warning that it has failed.
For businesses: monthly checks and annual duration tests, with the record your fire inspector will ask for.
Hard-wired alarms tested, interconnection confirmed, and units past their replacement date flagged.

The same idea, different priorities.

An annual or pre-winter check: panel and connections, GFCI and AFCI devices, outdoor receptacles, alarms, and anything that has been tripping or flickering. Especially worthwhile in older houses with original wiring, aluminum branch circuits or a fuse panel.
Scheduled visits outside trading hours: emergency lighting and exit sign testing, panel checks, lighting repairs and ballast or driver replacements, and the small faults staff have been working around.
Suite and common-area checks, alarm testing between tenancies, and a single contractor who knows the building and keeps the records.

We list what will be checked, which depends on the building, its age and any problems you already know about.
Panel, connections, protective devices, alarms and, for businesses, emergency lighting — with anything unsafe made safe on the spot.
What we checked, what we fixed, and anything that needs a separate quote, ranked by urgency.

There is no legal schedule for houses. An annual check, or one before winter, is sensible for older homes, homes with aluminum wiring or a fuse panel, and anyone who has had tripping, flickering or warm outlets. Newer homes can go longer between checks.
Typically a panel and connection check, GFCI and AFCI testing, a look at receptacles and switches that have caused problems, and smoke and CO alarm testing. For businesses, emergency lighting and exit sign testing is usually the core of it.
Yes. The Ontario Fire Code requires emergency lighting and exit signs to be checked regularly and tested, and records kept. We carry out the tests, replace failed batteries and units, and give you the record.
It reduces the risk. Many electrical fires start at loose or overheating connections that give warning signs first. Finding them during a planned check is far better than finding them after a burning smell.
Yes. Commercial maintenance is usually scheduled before opening, after closing or on weekends so it does not interrupt trade.
